Day 1

Today was the first day of the character designing for me. While Wei Jie was still modelling the characters, I did some research on the textures of the models at first, my group members wanted it to look like an army officer, therefore I researched on army textures like this below:

This was the texture I tried using for my model before, there were changes made.

Day 3

I was assigned to model the ear-muffs for the rabbit.I also did more advanced research on the rabbit after getting more assistance from Mr Ron.

Day 4

This was the day where we did more severe brainstorming and decided to make our story more cartoon-based and comical , we decided to change our character design.

Day 5 and Day 6

I tried some textures on the bear:
I realised that all this material did not really give much depth to the bear,  therefore after re-discussing wth my group members  I decided to texture using mia materials.

Day 8

Today i successfully finished with the texturing of the rabbit and the bear successfully...wooohooo...Im saying finally as there were lots of challenges change of models and ideas at last, my group memebers were happy with these models the rabbit and the bear, I spent my days texturing them with definitely lots of trial and error.
The biggest challenge I faced was the rabbit getting its mashimaro eyes we wanted it to have its eyes to look like brocks' in pokemon(if u remember) with just two strokes.

All of these were my trials.

Finally,

This was the texture my friends preferred therefore I used this texture and my way to do the eyes of the rabbit the mashimaro...he he

This was the texture I did in photo shop and used previously but it did not look convincing at all. This is the eyes which in Photoshop using the rectangular marquee tool and filled it with a black paint.Thats how I got the result like this.

The character after I used the rectangular marquee too and adding the nose looked very "fake",I can call it.

Thats when i got this idea of using the wireframe of the rabbit converting it into jpeg image and and then importing it into Photoshop and drawing the two lines on it to get the accurate shape and placement of the eyes.

I managed to draw this with the help renedering out a tiff image of the head of the chracter in a wireframe mode and imported it to maya and drew it according to its shape...trust me it really looked much much more better=)). I loved the rabbit alot.
These were the reference images I got from my intensive research while doing the texture for the models. My motivation/inspiration..tadaa  mashimaro

This would be brock the character from the cartoon series pokemon. My group wanted the character design for the rabbit to be something like that thats when I thought of this character. The result of the model looked cute too though.

The bear was done successfully as I was really happy with the noise, following the reference picture I got in the net after some google search(GOOGLE WAS INDEED OUR SAVIOUR)

These were all my trials of the various textures I did before I got the result I wanted...I managed to put in some of my best trials, some of my trials looked too undescribable...lol

FINALLY...my group members were happy with these texture and the noise..so wala I decided to stick with this=)

As for the eyes of the model I used this image of a original pupil and did some planar-mapping to it.

This was the result I got ,  wanted to give a sense of "life" and the reflectivity which the iris usually have. I found that adding in just a blinn or a mia material did not give the  eye a depth. This was my last resort but it still appeared to be good enough.

This was the reference image I used while I was texturing the model. I realised that little details are also very important , like in this case for the bear it would be the noise on its body.

DAY 9

Today I was busy finishing up the models of the ear- muffs as my group members said that the model which I did previously was a not really detailed one. Therefore I set up on my venture on re-modelling a better one.

Perfect!!!!

I also did the production schedule in excel. Thanks to this experience that im gaining more confidence in excel.

Day 11

Today was the day our group finalised the animation. There were lots of problems faced while doing the animation as the scene was heavy. There were also some vertices popping out. My group and I spent the day solving those problems and mending mishapes by re-texturing them. The whole day was spent doing this , but I was satisfied that at least when we start batch rendering it will not really be a hassle. Thats all for today will be going back for some rest.

Day 12

Today was so called a very stressful day for me....not only me but for us our group,we came to school earlier and conquered the last row of the lab,and started  batch rendering the shots, I did batch rendering for the  beauty passes in the shots. There were lots of confusions and unwanted errors but I managed to overcome them. My group members and I had to stay back late in order to make sure that the shots were rendered properly. These are some of the shots I rendered:

Day 13

Today was the day where I was finishing up my rendering  and did some changes to the scene as there were some problems in the vertex. Therefore I was still rendering. But eventually by the end of the day,I managed to complete them.

Day 14

Today was our second last day the stress was really beginning to succumb us.I gathered all my shots I was rendering and gave it to Avinash who was compositing those using Premiere Pro. Today was the day, I also found some sound effects for our video. Spent the whole night doing that....

These  were some interesting ROYALTY FREE EFFECTS I FOUND :

Day 15

Today will be our final presentation, Ive learnt lots of important stuffs and also learnt how to work as a team.
