Day 11

Today our group were doing the last stage of the animation Avinash and Wei Jie were in the process of finishing up their animation. were in the stage of finishing the animation.
These would be the animation work which Avinash did. He did the animation for shots 7 and 8. He did lots of trial and error and after lots of trial and error he did manage to get the result he wanted. below are the  final results of the animation he did in maya, which was playblasted and converted to a video.

This was the trial did by Avinash. He was not happy with the result he achieved.

Next, was the work done by Poh Ling she animated the some of the scenes, the ripple effect in Houdini with some assistance from Mr Ron.

These are the reference pictures by Poh Ling, she used houdini to get the effect and she imported the ripple effect into maya.

These are the images which Poh Ling did some research on , for the AO passes.

Test Trail on the scenes, trying different max distance.

AO - Shot 2
AO - Shot 3
For today, Wei Yi did some bullet holes effects, she used After Effects to create and composite those bullet holes. She also researched on how to create the bullet hole on the score-board.

Below is the link on which she used to reference:

After she researched on how to do the bullet hole, wei yi followed the tutorial and she did her first bullet hole using Photoshop.

The second bullet hole she had done:

The third bullet hole I had done:

She repeated all the steps she learnt from the tutorial that she had researched through the link as shown above to create the second and third bullet hole. She just wanted  to compare which one she did was the best and used it for our scene. After discussing with the group members, we decided to use the third bullet hole for our scene. Wei Yi found some difficulties while doing the dodge and burn effects. She found it quite tedious in getting the outer layer of the bullet holes.

Wei Jie was still  animating his scens as there were some problems in the vertex of the model therefore he had to go through every single shot to make sure that all the shots were perfect before we batch rendered them.

Shalini was in charge of the documentation and she did a thorough in the check fo all the scenes before they were being batch rendered. I found out that I had to be sure and precise before we batch rendered the scenes. I also did the production schedule.

That was the work done for today, we were getting ready for the batch render....booking all the computer by coming early in the morning...it was really a hassle but we decided to break -up the work so that all of us will have a fair share.

This would be the first bullet -hole

Day 08

Task Accomplished today:

Looking through Scope Effects (Poh Ling)
Blend Shapes (Avinash)
Texturing  of  characters (Shalini)
Rigging and Shatter Effects (Wei Jie)

Poh Ling have completed the trail for looking through scope effects.
She tried using the png file that Wei Yi passed to her:

She wasnt happy with the result.

She did some research and found an online tutorial which produced a much more better result.
Here's some steps that she did in order to get the final outcome.
Original Footage

Color correction,Fast Blur

Linings that appear in the middle

Final Outcome

Avinash did the blending shapes for the expressions of the characters.

He with the aid of of youtube he did manage to get the result he wanted.Avinash found it tough to select the vertices and get the correct facial expression for thye model. He faced problems while doing the blending shapes, but he managed to overcome them.

Shalini continued on the texturing of the rabbit, she did the texturing of the rabbit, the group members liked the concept of having a white rabbit with ammos. They also wanted the rabbit to look something like mashimaro a cartoon character. Therefore, I did some research on how the character looked like and modelled its eyes using lines using photoshop and texture mapped them on to the face at first it did not look convincing.

This was the image which Shalini did in Photoshop to get the shape of the eye.

This was the trial she did which ended up in a failure, she did the UV mapping but unfortunately it did not work as it also appeared on the back of the rabbits head therefore, she had to make sure that the faces were selected and did a planar mapping to it in order to remove the mark.

Lesson learnt was to make frequent use of the UV texture editor as it helps make the texture be in place n look realistic.

Wei Yi continued with the lightings for the character.

Wei Jie did the rigging for the models. He also did the painting Weights for the models he did spent more time on it in order to make it realistic. Wei Jie encountered many obstacles while doing the painting Weights. The paint had to be precise in order for the animating work to go smoothly.

This was the shutter effect done by Wei Jie.

Painting Weights By Wei Jie

Day 07

Roles for today:

Poh Ling - Lighting Artist(Set Extension), Texture Artist(Set Extension) and Visual Effects Artist
Wei Yi - Lighting Artist (Characters)
Shalini - Texture Artist (Characters)
Avinash - Final Expression Rigger
Wei Jie - Modeler(Characters)

Results:

Poh Ling
Current Lighting Situation/ Placement of Lights:

Finished texturing the set extension

Rendered Images with different light attributes:

Deleted additional lights and changed the color of lights to orangey:

Poh Ling also did the ripple effects. she was not really happy with the outcome of it, Mr Ron will in assisting us on the this particular effect.

This is the outcome of the image using AE

Wei Yi did the trial of the lightings for the character.

Shalini did the texturing of the two characters. This was my progress of the texturing of the model and i would like to thank Mr ron for teaching me to add the noise, was having great problems with it, this would be my step by step work progress for the texturing of the rabbit and the bear. Planar mapping on the noise.

Shalini would still be working on it.

Avinash did this facial expressions and the rigging of the model.
Normal

Happy

Sad

He was trying out various blending shapes to show the facial expressions and it will be changing while the animation is going on.

Wei Jie is the modeller for the bear and the rabbit, he got the desired effect he wanted.

That's all. Thanks for your time! C:
